A well-known Pembrokeshire football referee has been honoured to take charge of the prestigious West Wales Intermediate Cup final.
Adrian Wilson, of Sageston, near Tenby, is delighted that he has been given the top job of refereeing the final at the Liberty Stadium on Monday, April 30th.
“I’m really looking forward to it now,” said Wilson. “I heard that possibly a referee from Pembrokeshire would be chosen, but I didn’t expect it to be me and I was pleasantly happy when I was told.”
The cup final pitches Neath outfit Giants Grave, who beat Monkton Swifts in the semi final, against Carmarthenshire’s Dafen Welfare, where kick off is at 7pm.
Wilson is an extremely experienced referee, at Pembrokeshire and Welsh League level, and has been blowing the whistle for a staggering 21 years. He is a man who is definitely no stranger to the big occasion.
Four years ago he was an assistant to Jonathan Twigg when he was in charge at the Liberty Stadium. A few years ago he was also in charge of an FAW Youth semi-final where Cardiff City took on derby rivals Swansea City at Stebonheath, Llanelli.
