HAVERFORDWEST lost their final game of the campaign at Pontyberem but started with something of a makeshift side after winning the league title the previous week.
The Blues were already 24-0 behind at half time as Ponty scored good tries by scrum half Owen Jones, winger Matthew Murphy, second row Christian Lewis and winger Iwan Harries, the first and fourth converted by outside half Rhodri Jones.
Haverfordwest fought back with an unconverted try by David O’Leary.
After full back Owen Jones had added a fifth try for Ponty it was the Blues who had the final word as Ollie Reyland sped over for a try which Steve Williams converted.
The referee for this match was world-famous official Nigel Owens, who had reffed at the Dragons v Ospreys match the previous evening and turned up to watch this game.
The match official was delayed so Mr Owens needed no second bidding in taking charge – and clearly enjoyed his role.
