HAVERFORDWEST came back from 3-7 interval deficit to earn a victory which guarantees them promotion to division two west next season.
Lampeter were the first team to beat the Blues at home with a 16-15 victory this season and they looked on for a double after a good try from Aled Morgan was converted by Huw Thomas.
The Blues, who were led out by long-serving flanker Richard Brazell in what is to be his last home game, responded with a penalty from No 10 Steve Williams – and Brazell made a fairytale ending by claiming his team’s first try, which Williams converted.
It was a clear boost for Haverfordwest and they added a second try as Dan Birch, on for injured skipper Dave Williams, raced through and Steve Williams again converted.
But from the kick-off they were rocked as a loose pass was intercepted by Lampeter’s No 8 Ceri Thomas, who scored a try converted by his namesake Huw to set up a tense finale.
But the Blues regained their composure and a Steve Williams’ penalty proved to be the final score of an absorbing clash.
