HOCKEY players from Prendergast CP School have been congratulated after winning the recent Pembrokeshire Hockey Zone final.
The school won four out of their five matches, and now go on to represent Pembrokeshire in the Welsh Activate finals in Newtown on Friday 30th March.
The teams who qualified from the pool stages were Ysgol Brynconin, Ysgol Llanychllwydog, Ysgol Maenclochog, Narberth CP School, St Teilo’s Catholic Primary School, and Prendergast School.
The final, held at Fishguard astroturf pitch, was 10 minutes each way and each team played five matches.
Prendergast won their first four matches, with their last draw against St Teilo’s, who had been improving steadily during the day. The match resulted in a scoreline of 0-0.
Angela Miles, the hockey development officer for Pembrokeshire, presented medals sponsored by Valero to Prendergast.
She praised all the schools who made the final, saying: “The standard of hockey is improving each year and we hope that many of the youngsters involved in hockey in school will also be able attend hockey fun centres taking place in May, and hopefully progress to clubs.”
