The Bluebirds went back up into second place after a fine display in which debutant Rob Morgan scored a fine goal in the first half before setting up Jamie Evans for the second.
Goalkeeper Peter Blain pulled off two superb saves, in front of him the back line of Phil Cattlin, Gareth Elliott and Dale Griffiths worked coolly to ensure the clean sheet.
Academy products Rob Morgan and Declan Carroll have been in fine form lately, and Ellis and Wayne Jones gave Morgan his first start, with Carroll appearing on the bench. Morgan played in midfield, just ahead of the pairing of Owen Thomas and Ricky Watts, with Chris O’Sullivan and Richie Lewis out wide, and Darren Griffiths and Nicky Woodrow up front.
It was from this position that he struck a spectacular opening goal in the 25th minute, collecting a neat pass some 35 yards out and firing in a swerving shot which left the keeper struggling before spinning over the line.
Since returning to the club recently, Jamie Evans has shown a remarkable knack of coming off the bench with quarter of an hour to go and scoring a crucial goal, something he’s done now in three games out of four. On Saturday, he was again neatly placed on the far post when Morgan, out on the left, curled over a beautiful cross and Evans met it on the half-volley to drive in. On Saturday they travel to play Pontardawe at Pontardawe Town.
