The home side must have thought they had the game won as Whitland stood at 48 for seven.

Stylish left-hander Paul Davies scored 31 of those, including four boundaries, and Shane Morgan increased the tally with two big fours in his 24 runs.

Andrew Phillips finished with 4 for 22 as the Neyland spear-head with support from acting skipper Greg Miller (3 for 9) and Jeremy Charles (five maidens in his 12 overs as he claimed 1 for 20).

But Neyland were rocked back after tea as Mark Lee again showed his value to the side, grabbing the first four wickets with the aid of a good slip catch by Owen Edwards that removed the dangerous Paul Murray for a duck, and an excellent return catch as he moved quickly to his left to shift Andrew Slark.

Phil Davies smashed a six and two fours but fell to Paul Webb, who joined forces with spin partner Meyrick Rowlands to share six wickets for only 28 runs. Phil Sutton grafted for his 19 runs but chipped a catch to Dave Lee on the boundary after facing 50 deliveries and from then on Neyland failed to apply themselves and Whitland celebrated a win as reward for their stickability'.
