The toast of west Wales point to point enthusiasts in recent weeks has been the plucky young jockey, Lucy Rowsell, of Laugharne.
Lucy has already ridden four winners this month - two at the Banwen Miners event and another two at the Tredegar Hunt meeting -bringing her tally of successes to 11 this season and 49 in all.
And she may, within the next couple of weeks, achieve her aim of riding 50 winners.
Lucy, who works for the National Hunt trainer Alison Thorpe at Bronwydd, near Carmarthen, rode her first competitive race 11 years ago, the day after her 16th birthday.
Despite quite a few falls, which she has taken fully in her stride, she still lives for the excitement and the adrenaline surge of horse racing, and she seems to be getting the hang of it.
The final point to point steeplechase of the west Wales season is the Pembrokeshire Hunt meeting which takes place at Trecoed, near Fishguard, on Saturday, June 3rd.
