Pembrokeshire primary schools football squad finished off their south division two league campaign, at Camrose AFC, with a tough fixture against Swansea Schools, who were determined to make amends for Pembs punishing them in their previous encounter.
Despite dropping points to Swansea, Pembs picked up four valuable points to make them group winners, going into the Welsh schools’ finals that are being held at the Bridge Meadow on Sunday, April 25th.

The Pembs boys were playing well below par and this was a nerve racking match for both players and spectators alike. Ethan Price saved Pembs time after time with his match winning tackles while Max Brindley covered well in defence. Hari Williams made a great debut with Toby Poole standing up to the physical challenges that were flying in. Paul Miller chased everything up front and while Liam Cullen had a quiet game by his standards but this didn’t stop him scoring the only goal of the game.
James Harries once again kept a clean sheet.

Pembrokeshire started well and created chance after chance with Noah Richards and Lewis Phillips going close and were finally rewarded when good build up play with Jack Griffiths and Samuel Thomas resulted in Thomas firing a shot low in to the corner of the net. This however, only served to wake the opposition up resulting in an equalising goal bringing the scores level at half time.
Both sides began the second half by creating chances with Tommy Davies producing some fine saves. Swansea scored two quick goals from free kicks. Pembs came back when Travis O’Connor crossed the ball for Sion O’Sullivan to score. With Pembs pressing for the equaliser Swansea counterattacked and scored the fourth goal.

Pembrokeshire fought back with Luke Harris and Lewis Thomas playing well and were rewarded when Luke Harris played a long ball for Curtis Hicks to flick on with his head, into the path of Travis O’Connor who finished it off well.

Pembs played a lot better in their second match and really should have taken all three points. Ryan Conbeer put in a lot of running up and down the left flank. Cullen scored again and both he and Fraser Finlay combined well to make several good chances. Swansea equalised with a long shot and despite their best efforts Pembs could not break the deadlock.
