Monkton Swifts 4
Solva 2
Monkton Swifts showed all their battling qualities to earn three precious points over out of sorts Solva.
Swifts’ manager Liam Stapleton was delighted his team won for the fourth time this season, despite still being rooted to the bottom of the league ladder on goal difference.
The home side had Daniel Scourfield to thank as he grabbed a hat-trick; the one blemish for the Swifts’ was the fact that they played three quarters of the clash with ten men after Gareth Howells received a straight red card. Scourfield’s goals came in the tenth, 30th and 55th minutes to take a three-goal lead.
The visitors mounted a serious comeback as Charlie Syme struck twice, but deep in injury time Swifts’ skipper Sean Jones grabbed an all-important fourth goal to secure the vital points.
