Goodwick United 2
Hakin United 1
Goodwick United moved three points clear at the top of the league after defeating last season’s champions Hakin United.
Bernie Armstrong’s Goodwick troops drew earlier in the season at Hakin, but went one better by picking-up their tenth win of the campaign.
The home side led 2-0 at the interval. Nigel Delaney scored the opener from the penalty spot, his third goal in two weeks, after Kieran O’Brien was tripped in the box.
Three minutes later and Jay Brockway doubled the home side’s lead and give Goodwick a good cushion at half time.
The Vikings found it hard to break down some strong Goodwick resistance, but eight minutes from time they became the first team in the top flight to score 50 goals this season. Chris Milich headed home a teasing cross, but it was too little too late.
