Kilgetty 5
Merlins Bridge 1
Kilgetty thrashed ten-man title favourites Merlins Bridge to chalk-up their first home league win of the season.
This was the shock result of the season, and yes, the score line is right, as everything went to plan for Bobby Bevan’s Kilgetty outfit against the Wizards who suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
Michael Scale gave Kilgetty a tenth minute lead. On 28 minutes and Michael Beynon scored from the penalty spot.
Wizards’ central defender Paul Thomas was red-carded just before the break.
Wizards’ manager Matthew Price wasn’t making excuses but admitted his side failed to cope with the heavy conditions as Kilgetty chased everything that moved.
Beynon added a third, Nicky Cope fired home a fourth and Scale was in the right place at right time for the fifth. Peter Thomas rifled home a consolation 89th minute penalty for the shell-shocked visitors. Title seeking Merlins Bridge will try to bounce back to winning ways as they face Hakin United at the Racecourse this Saturday.
