Haverfordwest County 3
Herbrandston 2

Nicky Woodrow’s 70th minute winner helped Haverfordwest County overcome a very determined Herbrandston outfit at the Bridge Meadow.

Herbie slipped to second from bottom and into the relegation zone as they lost for the ninth time this season, while Derek Roberts’ Bluebirds sit pretty in fourth.

The home side took a tenth minute lead when left-sided midfielder Johnny Clark scored from close range.

The visitors equalised in the 28th minute. Bluebirds’ keeper James Phillips failed to gather an in-swinging Alex Ouzman corner, and the ball was spilled embarrassingly in the back of the net.

However, goalkeeper Phillips made amends just before the break, making a brilliant penalty stop to deny Ouzman, who was felled in the area by defender Morgan Whittaker.

Midway through the second period and Harry Allen’s wicked deflected goal-bound shot wrong-footed Martin Langdon to give the hosts the lead.

The visitors equalised as Nathan Banner intelligently set up Craig Nicholson who neatly slotted past Phillips.

But Woodrow had the final say as he scored the winner to break his former teammates’ hearts.
