Goodwick United 3
Monkton Swifts 1
Goodwick United claimed a hard-fought win to send Monkton Swifts rock bottom of the table.
The home outfit were awarded two penalties in the opening half hour, both of which were converted by Nigel Delaney.
Eight minutes before the break and Gareth Howells slotted past home custodian Carl Woodhouse.
Play was fairly even in the second period, but the home side secured the points when substitute Jay Brockway struck his sides third with just two minutes remaining.
This was Bernie Armstrong’s Goodwick outfit’s ninth win of the campaign that sees them go second in the table on same points as leaders Hakin, but the Vikings have a better goal difference. While Swifts’s fall from grace has been significant as they lost the 11th time and relegation is a distinct possibility.
