Milford United 0
Milford Athletic 1
Milford Athletic kept their promotion hopes alive by defeating derby rivals Milford United at Marble Hall.
Athletic’s goal-scoring hero was striker Dean Watkins, who grabbed the winner in the 38th minute.
Athletic beat the Robins 3-1 at Pill Lane at the start of the season, this win gave them bragging rights as they completed the double over Jimmy Harding’s Robins.
The visitors led 1-0 at half time, striker Dean Watkins struck from inside the box. Clifford Davidson also spurned two gilt-edged scoring opportunities, which should have put Athletic out of sight by the interval.
The home side were unlucky not to equalise as Craig Robertson’s goal-bound header was acrobatically tipped over the crossbar by Athletic goalkeeper Chris Scoble. Robertson also pulled a stinging shot wide. Justin Harding had a late header and shot stopped by terrific Scoble as Athletic clung on for three precious points.
Athletic are third in the table, just a point behind joint league leaders Hundleton and Johnston, while Milford United are in fourth, having played one more game than Athletic, who are currently three points adrift of their derby rivals.Milford United 0 Milford Athletic 1 MILFORD Athletic kept their promotion hopes alive by defeating derby rivals Milford United at Marble Hall.
