Whitland under-13 girls’ cricket team represented Wales in the national finals of the Lady Taverners tournament held recently at Bath.
On a glorious, sunny day, they competed against the remaining English county champions from Middlesex, Essex, Oxford, Somerset, Northants and Yorkshire. In a round robin, league format, the team won four of the six matches, finishing as joint runners up. The girls were great representatives of their club and Welsh cricket, and have made many contacts for possible future tours and fixtures. This has been a great start to the new 2009 season, and they look forward to continuing their good form in this year’s festivals and competitions.
