There were mixed fortunes for Pembrokeshire league teams taking part in Saturday’s mouth-watering cup-ties, writes Gordon Thomas.
Ryan Thomas (2), Wayne O’Sullivan, Steve Evans, Anthony Couzens netted goals that gave Goodwick United a comfortable five-goal victory at Neath league outfit Borough United.
Monkton Swifts went goal crazy as they thrashed visiting Llanelli Steel 9-0 at Monkton Lane.
Lewis Davies cracked in a hat-trick as Ben Goldsmith (2), Paul Lowe (2), Ben Nicholas and Marcus Taylor also added their names to the score sheet.
Probably the best result of the day was St Ishmaels defeating much fancied Ragged School 3-1 in extra-time. Tish boss Glyn Griffiths was delighted with his outfit’s whole-hearted efforts as Mark Devonald (2) and Daniel Flynn bagged the goals.
Neyland eased into the next round as they hammered Pembroke Borough 7-1 at home. Shane Phillips and Wayne Parry scored two apiece alongside Jason Phillips and Peter Appleby. An own goal completed the rout over their second division rivals.
On the downside, Merlins Bridge lost 2-1 at Felinfoel, Narberth were convincingly beaten 5-0 at Port Tennant Colts, unlucky Solva lost 4-3 at Winch Wen and Milford Athletic bowed out after losing 4-0 at Dafen.
