Carew 0.

Hakin United 2.

Hakin United remain two points clear at the top of the table after claiming victory over rock bottom Carew.

The Vikings gave Haverfordwest County an eight-goal thrashing last week, so the only thing that could possibly prevent the Vikings from claiming another rout was complacency.

This was a clash that Vikings’ manager Gary Dawes knew could have been a potential banana skin, but although comfortable and on top in possession stakes, they could only find a way past Carew keeper Sion Jenkins twice.

Carew boss Mackie Harts must have felt pleasantly pleased with his side’s gritty performance against the current league leaders, despite defeat.

The visitors broke the deadlock around the 15th minute when vastly experienced predator Paul ‘Jonah’ Jones pounced on a rebound.

However, the visitors had to wait until ten minutes from the end before wrapping-up this top versus bottom league tussle.

Teenager Ashley Bevan striking an unstoppable 20-yarder right-footed much to the relief of travelling Vikings’ contingent. Carew: Sion Jenkins, Matthew Whitfield, Gareth Lewis, Neil Greggory, Sam Goodwin, Paul Bullock, Ben Jones, Dan Powers, Hadyn Shapcott, Richard Bullock, Wayne Cannon. Subs: Adam Chandler, Brian Hall, Matthew Phillips.

Hakin United: James Manson, Neil Mathias, Kristan Bennett, Ewan Findlay, Scott Davies, Steve Mathias, Andrew Kingston, James Stanmore, Ashley Bevan, Paul Jones, Adam Davies. Subs: Keith Armstrong, Scott Reynish, Gary Dawes.

Referee: Ian Baxter.
