Pembroke Dock Harlequins 13.
Tenby United 16.
Tom Lewis grabbed a late interception try which he converted to earn Tenby victory over his former team-mates.
The former Quins outside half went through the card, scoring all of Seasiders’ points.
This derby clash produced high intensity, a few altercations and two red cards.
Lewis kicked well in defence in a tense first period, where his single penalty restricted the Quins to a 10-3 interval lead.
However, with the breeze in his favour afterwards, he punished any home indiscretions with some raking touch finders and two kicks on target, before he latched on to a flat pass by the Quins’ midfield about 40-metres out and raced clear to the line.
There was still time for Dean Lawrence to kick a Quins’ penalty to reduce the deficit to three points, but try as they might, the home team rarely looked likely to score after that.
Quins’ outside half Dean Lawrence landed an easy penalty, but missed another one that was almost as simple.
Lee Scourfield posed a constant threat on the left wing, putting in a few rampaging runs, which Tenby just about repelled before levelling matters with a Lewis penalty from 40-metres.
The Quins claimed the only try of the first 40 minutes.
Skipper Gareth Scourfield stormed down the right flank, set up a ruck and play was spread left via Stuart Hay, Gary Pickering and Darren Gibby for Lee Scourfield to slice through to the corner, Lawrence judging the difficult conversion to perfection.
But the Quins should have turned a territorial advantage into more points.
Tenby had Johnny Lane yellow-carded and both teams lost a centre when referee Colin Phillips lost patience with minor scuffles and red-carded Gary Pickering (Quins) and Gavin Brace (Tenby).
It was still 10-9 to the Quins when Lewis pounced for his seven-pointer, and the Quins had to settle for a bonus point as the Seasiders stay in touch at the top with a sixth victory in seven outings.
