Pembrokeshire’s flag was flying high in The Poole open gymnastic competition.
With 44 gymnasts, coaches and family attending, Pembrokeshire special needs gymnastics club entered 17 gymnasts in the trampoline and artistic competitions.
A total of 240 gymnasts were competing from clubs all over England, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands.
Of the 11 Pembrokeshire gymnasts who entered the trampoline competition, eight won medals: Darren Briggs 1st (gold); Andrew Martin 2nd (silver); Jamie Bevan 3rd (bronze); Marcus James 2nd (silver); Ryan Foot 1st (gold), Emma Martin 3rd (bronze); Leah Scott 1st (gold), and Jemma Bowie-Hallam 1st (gold).
Each gymnast performed a ten bounce routine within their age group against very stiff competition.
On the Sunday, all 17 gymnasts competed in the artistic competition.
Girls and boys competed on floor and vault and where appropriate, parallel bars.
The results were: Level one - under-12 - Adele Bevan, floor 1st, vault 1st, beam 1st; Jemma Bowie-Hallam, floor 3rd, vault 3rd.
Level one - under 16 - Emma Martin, floor 2nd, vault 3rd; Kirstene Jones, vault 2nd, beam 3rd.
Level two - under-16 - Rhianne Cole, floor 2nd, vault 3rd, beam 2nd; Leah Scott, floor 1st, vault 2nd, beam 1st.
Level one - under-12 boys - Ryan Foot, floor 3rd, vault 2nd; Marcus James, floor 1st, parallel bars 1st; Jamie Bevan, vault 2nd parallel bars 2nd.
Level one - under-21 - Andrew Martin, parallel bars 3rd.
Level two - over 21 - Darren Briggs, vault 3rd.
The gymnasts won a total of 31 medals over the weekend, against very good national competition.
The weekend was topped by Pembrokeshire special needs gymnastics club winning the team shield out of a total of 18 teams which took part in this competition.
Sponsors throughout Pembrokeshire made it possible for the club to purchase equipment for gymnasts to train and they also assisted extras like travel.
