Hakin United 8.
Haverfordwest County 2.
Quality striker Adam Davies marked his Vikings’ debut with four goals against Haverford-west County.
The former Tish striker scored all his goals in the second period as the ten men Bluebirds were run ragged.
A moment of brilliance from Vikings’ Ashley Bevan brought the game to life in the 11th minute.
The home side were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and Bevan stepped up and drilled the ball into the back of the net leaving Bluebirds keeper Shane Earp a mere spectator.
At the other end, Bluebirds’ Matthew Ellis forced a good save from Manson.
Midway through the half the Vikings doubled their advantage, with veteran striker Paul ‘Jonah’ Jones proving to be a handful for the Bluebirds defence and his excellent strike finding the back of the net.
The celebrations were short lived however, as the visitors clawed a goal back just two minutes later, Craig George made no mistake in ensuring the visitors were right back in the game.
The visitors battled to find an equaliser, Mike Preddy’s darting run and strike was well saved by Manson who commanded his goal well.
Minutes later Lloyd Wilson had a goal disallowed leaving the visitors still searching for an elusive equaliser.
The hosts then took advantage of a poor defensive error by the Bluebirds. With the Vikings on the attack, keeper Earp came out to retrieve the ball leaving the goal mouth exposed. After Earp failed to make the ball the Bluebirds defence then failed to clear the danger and Ashley Bevan pounced on the loose ball to clinch his second on the stroke of half time.
In the second period the home side put the game beyond any doubt with a brilliant attacking display.
Vikings’ Alex Grennish was only denied a place on the score sheet by a good save from keeper Earp after unleashing a 25-yarder.
The Bluebirds were forced to valiantly defend a tirade of shots on goal and were broken once again when among a crowded Bluebirds box, Adam Davies unleashed a strike and clinched his first goal for his new club.
With the weather worsening, the afternoon soon got even gloomier for the Bluebirds as Matthew Ellis was sent off just on the hour-mark.
Another superb goal came from Vikings’ Steve Mathias soon after the visitors were reduced to ten men.
A brilliant run from Jonah, who managed to keep the ball in play, set up Mathias who struck a curling cross which glided (wind assisted) into the top corner of the net.
The Vikings were now opening up the ten-men Bluebirds with ease.
Unmarked Adam Davies fired a right-footed shot from the edge of the box for his second and minutes later crowned his debut with a hat-trick unleashing another right-footed strike which hammered into the back of the net.
Bluebirds sub Luke Robinson pulled a goal back late on, only for the hosts to complete an impressive display and Davies clinching his side’s eighth.
Vikings stay two points clear at the top after this emphatic win.
