Crymych 54.
Cefneithin 0.
Crymych ran in eight tries without reply against division five (west) leaders Cefneithin, who could only muster 14 players.
The game was played with uncontested scrums, which didn’t please the Preseli Men.
However, they were good enough to run in four tries in each half, while still stopping the opposition from having a look-in before the referee brought the game to a premature conclusion after Crymych reached a half century of points with 71 minutes played.
The Crymych front row of Jason Nicholls, Trystan Griffiths and Robert Davies used their scrummaging energy to provide quality possession for half backs Iwan James and Gareth Davies to use. Young number eight Carwyn Lawrence played well, and although skipper Richard Llewellyn had to leave the field with a leg injury, the Preseli Men had a quality replacements bench.
Pacy winger Andrew Thomas, centre Nick Bevan, fly half Gareth Davies and live-wire hooker Trystan Griffiths all claimed first half tries for Crymych, three of them converted by full back Huw Rees.
Mark Oakman looked sharp alongside Lawrence, who grabbed a good support try after the break, while Cennydd James and Andrew Phillips claimed plenty of lineout ball for their backs to use. Winger Mark Hamilton sped over for two tries and prop Robert Davies also got his name on the scoresheet, with all four tries converted by Huw Rees, to send Crymych powering into the next stage of the competition.
Crymych: Huw Rees, Mark Hamilton, Nick Bevan, Martin Jones, Andrew Thomas, Gareth Davies, Iwan James, Jason Nicholls, Trystan Griffiths, Robert Davies, Cennydd James, Andrew Phillips, Richard Llewellyn (Capt), Mark Oakman, Carwyn Lawrence. Replacements: John Davies, Martin Edwards, Dylan Harries, Noam Davey.
