Cwmgors 7.
Pembroke 0.
Cwmgors produced one of the shock results of the round as they scored the only try of the match against Pembroke to gain revenge for a record 89-6 thumping at Crickmarren in a recent league match.
The home side had clearly changed somewhat since their defeat against the Scarlets, who were short of several players, but were still expected to make it into the third round draw.
But Pembroke failed to turn early periods of pressure into points, despite the yeoman work of skipper Gareth Jones (who switched from hooker to back row), Tom Surtees and Steve Dyde.
There were no excuses from the Pembroke management after the match as they admitted the Scarlets had never been able to maintain continuity in the awful weather and didn’t play up to their full potential.
Cwmgors claimed what turned out to be the only try of the match when Matthew Vickers sped to the line for Kevin Windsor to add the extra points.
The Scarlets had half chances but rarely looked likely to catch up, and bowed out of the competition when the form book suggested they should have won against a team which had lost its six previous games on the trot.
