Carew playing hosts to Swansea Students soon found they were one up from a short corner strike by Mason with Williams putting the rebound away.

Within the midfield of Wheeler, Mason, Williams and Woods controlling the play for much of the half the Rooks should have converted several of their chances but with an inform keeper the Students kept Carew at bay. Turning around 1-0 up at half-time the Students were fast out of the blocks and put Carew under pressure for the first part of the half bringing out some fine saves from the Rooks keeper Leigh Thomas with the defence of Johnson, Ferguson, Moseley, Hall and Cole standing up well to the onslaught.

However, a chink in the Carew armoury saw the Students Centre Forward one on one with Carew’s Keeper Thomas to put the Students level at one a piece. carew rallied and had several chances to win the game with Kendrick coming close after two solo runs, Williams flying down the wing and creating havoc in the final quarter and Mason attacking the visitors circle on several occasions. Numerous short corners were awarded but Carew could not make the most of their possession and chances.

Value for money for a neutral spectator saw Cardiff and UWIC come out on top in this goal feast.

Fieldhouse scored his first career hat-trick with three goals in the first half with his last goal gifted him from a Joel Meredith strike at goal. Patrick Baker had an excellent game in goal with Ian Baker holding the defensive line-up of Doona, Bowles, Meredith and Evans together well. Joe Moore, Zac Cole and captain Mat Clements gelled well in the midfield with youngsters Shane Lewis and Andrew Baker making some fine runs and chances further up the pitch.

With the scores level at three apiece at the interval, the visitors took control in the second period to run out comfortable winners.
