Terry Griffiths’ return to the sport of shooting this year has been an impressive one.
Griffiths, who comes from Haverfordwest, had an eight-year gap before deciding to return to the sport he loves.
He competed internationally for Wales’ Olympic skeet shooting team back in the 1986 Commonwealth Games, held in Edinburgh, Scotland.
After taking a long break from the sport, he tried his hand at motorbike racing on tracks all over the country, and his wife Mary was an avid follower. He returned to shooting earlier this year with great success.
He is currently in the top five of Wales’ national squad for Olympic skeet and he won the 2008 Welsh Grand Prix, held in Llandegla, Wrexham. At an international shooting event held in Scotland, Terry won a trophy for the highest shot by a Welsh team member.
And Griffiths was delighted to pick up a pairs’ bronze medal with Richard Stepney, from Crosshands, at the mini Commonwealth Games held in Gibralter, just a few weeks ago.
Griffiths is certainly setting his sights high for the future and said: “I’m really enjoying my shooting again. And I’m aiming to gain selection for the 2010 Wales Commonwealth team.”
