Hendy 15.

Tenby United 41.

An excellent second half performance gave Tenby United a deserved win against an experienced Hendy outfit which is traditionally strong at home but was unable to match the Seasiders in skill or fitness levels.

Hendy did manage to stay with the Seasiders in a competitive first period, where Tenby finished 22-15 in front. But from then on there was only going to be one winner as Lee Tucker’s pack got on top and half-backs, Rhys Thomas and Tom Lewis, were able to dictate the patterns of play so that they added another three tries without an answer.

Outside half Lee Evans did much to keep Hendy in touch during that first period as he sped over for two tries, converted one and added a penalty. But he was unable to prevent Tenby’s swifter backs from being heavily involved in scoring seven tries, two of them from talented centre Mark Heywood as he again showed his ability to support well and run a direct line which causes chaos in opposing defences.

Joining Heywood on the scoresheet were second row Gareth Edwards, centre Gavin Brace, winger Sam Catikai, replacement Barri John and fly half Tom Lewis, who also contributed three conversions.

It meant that Tenby United completed a deserved fourth win in five outings and they remain in third place in the table as their reward for such an excellent all-round team performance.
