Crymych 34.

Llanelli Wanderers 6.

Crymych maintained their impressive start to the new season with a fourth league win from five outings, comfortably accounting for Llanelli Wanderers, to show that they are a force to be reckoned with in this higher section.

The Preseli Men were very strong up front as John Davies, Trystan Griffiths and Jason Nicholls ensured a rock-solid scrum whilst Rhys Richards and Cennydd James completed a strong tight five which allowed the back row of Andrew Phillips, Mark Beasley and particularly skipper Richard Llewellyn to get to grips in gaining 50/50 ball.

Llanelli Wanderers started well as outside half Jeremy Phillips landed a penalty but Crymych were 17-3 ahead at the break as Martin Jones scored their first try after quick hands from Huw Rees, Gareth Davies and Carwyn Phillips, followed by other scores from flanker Mark Beasley and second row Rhys Richards, one converted by Huw Rees.

The second period was identical in terms of scoreline as the Wanderers had a second penalty from Phillips while Crymych ran in another three tries, one converted by Huw Rees.

It was Rees who scored the first try after the oranges with a little dart to the line before he added the extra points, followed by a well-worked try by Carwyn Phillips and a solo try by hooker Trystan Griffiths as he hacked a loose ball through from near halfway, showed good control, and won the race for the touch-down.

It completed another good win by the Preseli Men and coaches Elgan Vittle and Lyn Williams must be delighted by their players’ good form and commitment after promotion last campaign.
