Becky Harries, of Haverfordwest golf club recently represented Wales at the Turkish Open.
Becky finished ninth, and was the best placed Welsh player in the competition.
The course in Turkey was the first designed by Nick Faldo, in south eastern Europe, and was very challenging.
The weather during the competition was very hot – between 29 and 34 degrees, so hot, in fact, that two players actually collapsed with heat stroke.
Before the trip to Turkey Becky played in the ladies scratch cup at Royal Birkdale, Liverpool, the same course where the British Open was played.
During the morning round Becky had fun with the bunkers but improved in the afternoon round where she finished level par. At the end of the competition she finished in 20th, again the best Welsh score overall.
After returning home from Royal Birkdale she played the following day in the ladies scratch cup at Haverfordwest golf club.
This was a well-fought contest as Becky finally won the match on the 24th hole, beating Elspeth Tolland.
Elspeth played seven under her handicap and they both shot a 71 gross after 18 holes.
Becky said: “It was a brilliant match which could have gone either way. Elspeth played really well, but I’m lucky it went my way this time.”
