South Pembrokeshire Golf Club has secured funding for a New2Golf Winter Programme.

The initiative is supported by Wales Golf and is set to kick off in 2025.

Starting on Tuesday, January 28, at 7pm, the initial six lessons will be held at the New Trackman Mayfield Driving Range.

Participants will then have the chance to take another six lessons in March, focusing on short game and course management, directly at the South Pembrokeshire Golf Club (SPGC).

The aim is to prepare learners to start playing regularly by April, giving them a full summer of golf ahead.

The success of last year’s programme was highlighted by two members who transitioned from football and cricket to golf through New2Golf.

They shared their experience, saying: "Our experience with the New2Golf programme was nothing short of extraordinary.

"Under the expert guidance of a professional, we had several coaching sessions and were warmly embraced by the South Pembrokeshire Club.

"The club members went above and beyond, offering their time and wisdom to mentor us, and accompanied us on the course to help us establish our handicaps.

"The club organised monthly friendly competitions, where we were paired with members in various game formats, keeping the experience fresh and exhilarating.

"Once we earned our handicaps, we were set free on the course, and there was no turning back.

"Despite the inevitable ups and downs in our performance, we became addicted to the game.

"The lush green courses along the estuary became our sanctuary, a place where we could breathe in the fresh air, get our steps in, and continually strive to improve our game.

"Golf has since become a cherished part of our lives, with South Pembrokeshire Golf Club firmly rooting itself in our hearts.

"Every round brings new challenges and joys, and we've found a community that shares our passion.

"The camaraderie, the competitions, and the sheer beauty of the game has made the start of our golfing journey unforgettable.

"If you're contemplating taking up golf, we can't recommend the New2Golf programme and the South Pembrokeshire Club enough.

"It's not just a sport; it's a lifestyle that will capture your heart and soul."

The scheme offers subsidised rates, with the six lessons costing £30.
