A Pembrokeshire man has achieved some success in a squash tournament in Qatar.
Haverfordwest-born Joel Makin, 29, had a respectable run to the semi-finals of the QTerminals Qatar Classic in Doha. Makin is ranked as the world number nine.
Despite a tricky first-round draw against world number three Paul Coll from New Zealand, Makin secured a surprising victory of 11-8 11-4 11-4.
He followed this achievement with another decisive win in the second round, this time against France's Auguste Dussourd.
Arriving at the quarter-final, he faced Egypt’s Fares Dessouky but continued his winning streak, ending with an impressive 11-5 11-5 5-11 11-8.
His run ended in the semi-finals when Mostafa Asal, ranked number two, overpowered him.
Despite not making the final, Makin was the only unseeded player to reach the last four in the tournament.
