Two Pembrokeshire tennis players recently brought home national titles.
Jeremy Cross and Rupert Hannon brought pride to Haverfordwest Tennis Club by clinching victories in their respective championship matches.
Mr Cross, an experienced player, lifted two trophies at the British Masters Closed Grass Court Championships at Wimbledon.
The 48-year-old showcased an impressive performance, retaining the men's doubles title he won in 2023 alongside Andrew Birse.
The pair triumphed in the final, overcoming second seeds Jason Donoghue and Richard Downs with a convincing score of 6-2, 6-2.
Besides a remarkable performance in the doubles, Mr Cross also navigated his way through the singles rounds.
His final opponent was none other than his doubles partner Mr Birse.
Despite losing the first set, Mr Cross rallied to clinch victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 scoreline.
Elated by his accomplishment, Mr Cross said: "I can say for the first time that I am a British champion at singles which is pretty awesome."
He went on to share that his final win was all the more exceptional as his family was in attendance.
His successful season includes winning the men's over 45 British Open Masters Indoor Championship in February, resulting in an ITF ranking of 50th in the world.
On the other hand, young tennis ace Rupert emerged victorious in the boys under 8 category at the Welsh Championships at Penarth Windsor Lawn Tennis Club.
Coached by Tom Richards in Haverfordwest and part of a programme at the Swansea Tennis Academy, Rupert reflects bright prospects for the future.
His journey to the national title included a hard-fought final where he edged past Sol Green with a 10-8 score.
A confident Rupert stated: "I enjoyed the semi-final the best, but I did a good lob shot in the final."
His coach, Mr Richards was incredibly supportive.
He said: "Everyone at Haverfordwest Tennis Club is incredibly proud of Rupert.
"He’s put in a lot of hard work and is a pleasure to work with on court.
"Rupert absolutely loves his tennis and we’re all excited to see him progress further."
