Narberth RFC provided a stunning win over Newcastle Emlyn to secure their position at the top of the WRU Championship West.
The rugby was played under challenging weather conditions, a fierce wind cut across the pitch as the Otters locked horns with their opponents in a thrilling encounter.
Taking advantage of the stormy conditions, the Otters made a promising start in Newcastle Emlyn.
As soon as the match kicked off, wing Josh Evans managed to score a stunning try after a flowing move along the back line. This was followed up with a successful conversion by fly half Jonathan Rogers taking the score to 0-7.
Shortly afterwards, Ilan Phillips made an excellent angled run from a scrum close to the Emlyn line, scoring under the posts for a try, again converted efficiently by Rogers, raising Narberth's lead to 0-14.
The impressive run continued with Lewys Gibby charging past Emlyn's defence from a scrum, at the half-way line, hitting a try under the posts, again, Rogers successful at the conversion.
Although Emlyn tried to make amends, Narberth's solid defence proved impenetrable.
Yet another score was achieved when Guto Davies dived over the line, following a catch-and-drive at a lineout.
Not long after, a quick tap saw Hedd Nicholas, exploiting a gap, race under the posts for another try, converted by Rogers, making it 0-33 Narberth.
Ashley Sutton also made a significant contribution scoring a try after a swift run under the posts, which Rogers once again converted, making it 0-40.
Before half-time, Phillips made a triumphant return sealing his second try of the game; Rogers, once again, succeeded in his conversion pushing the half-time score to 0-47.
While Emlyn displayed an improved performance in the second half, the Otters maintained their dominance.
Despite some close calls, Narberth pushed through, scoring further tries through Nicholas, Dean James and finally, Sutton, with two successful conversions by Rogers.
Among these, Emlyn scored a single consolation try, taking the final score to an impressive 7-66 in favour of the Otters.
Dean James was awarded the well-deserved "Man of the Match" title by the coaches.
Looking ahead, Narberth RFC gears up for another crucial match against Maesteg Quins, particularly important as second-place Brecon RFC are proving to be a strong contender, hot on Narberth's heels.
