Two young Pembrokeshire swimmers grabbed podium places at the Swim Wales Open Water Championships last month.
Finley Bennett (pictured) and Grace Nichols, who are members of Pembrokeshire County Swimming (PCS), fought their way to bronze medals in a tough field that comprised some of the country's best open water athletes.
Bennett came third in the male 14/15 age category, while Nichols claimed third spot in the female 12/13 age group. Both had to brave the choppy 3 kilometre course at Llys y Fran Reservoir in north Pembrokeshire.
Craig Nelson, head coach of PCS, said: "It's great to see some of our guys on the podium. But, it's just as gratifying to see so many members turn up and flying the flag for Pembs."
Twenty two PCS swimmers entered the event, which took place on Saturday 16th September. Success at the open water event follows on from a bumper medal haul for the Pembrokeshire club at Welsh Summer Nationals in Swansea in August.
PCS is a performance swimming club, based in Haverfordwest. It comprises the best swimmers, selected from the county’s five development clubs - Haverfordwest Seals, Fishguard Flyers, Milford Tigers, Tenby Dolphins and Pembroke & District Swimming Club.
Nick Russell, assistant coach at PCS, said: "This was a very good showing from our athletes, which sets the standard for our forthcoming County and Regional Championships."
