Burry Port 39.
Fishguard and Goodwick 8.
Fishguard and Goodwick produced a good first half display against promotion favourites Burry Port but two dismissals in close succession wrecked their hopes of a comeback.
Coach Alan Phillips said afterwards: "We played our best rugby of the season in that first half as we only trailed 13-3 but when Alun George got sent off for an alleged high tackle and Dan Charsley followed, I think for something he said, we were bound to be in trouble against such an experienced team."
Burry Port had won by 22-12 in the corresponding game at Fishguard and they had a penalty by outside half Tom Price to open their account, followed by tries from flanker Andrew Slimm and winger Rhys Jenkins, both unconverted.
Alun George responded with a penalty for the Seagulls but when they were down to 13 men they were unable to stop Burry Port adding further tries from centre Nigel Powell, full back Matthew Banner, replacement centre Phil Ruddle and No 8 Mark Lewis, three of them converted by Price.
Fishguard did manage a consolation try by busy hooker Mark James from a driving lineout where Andrew Merry, Gwilym Evans, Dan Morris and skipper Simon James were involved but with two men short they had to settle for second best as Burry Port went clear at the top of the division.
Fishguard and Goodwick: Rhodri Thomas; Matthew George; Dan Charsley; Jonathan Jones; Dylan Roberts; Alun George; Gareth Owen; Andrew Morgans (Paul Owen); Mark James; Dan Morris: Gwilym Evans; Andrew Merry; Richard Hunter (Alan Phillips); Darren Davies; Simon James (Capt).
