Llandybie 12.
Llangwm 13.
A snap drop goal by Llangwm skipper Ian Griffiths edged Llangwm to a much-needed win at Llandybie and gave the Wasps revenge for a similar single-point defeat when the teams met at Pill Parks.
Griffiths had switched from his normal back row berth to scrum half when Henry Thomas was injured and after Llangwm had been reduced to 14 men when prop Richard Scriven was shown a red card by the referee. Wayne English came on to the front row, Griffiths switched to partner Will Beresford at half back and with his team trailing 12-10, surprised the Llangwm players and supporters with his snap drop goal attempt which hit the upright, fell onto the bar and trickled over for the winning score!
Llangwm showed what they can offer when they have a reasonably full complement of players and their typical Llangwm grit as they fought back from a 12-0 interval deficit after Llandybie had scored tries by No 8 Lyndon Davies, converted by Robert Goodfellow, and flanker Tom Wynn.
The Wasps gradually came back into contention when good handling by Beresford, Graham Badham and Dan Curtis put winger Simon Preddy over for an unconverted try, followed by another five-pointer from Gareth Jones as he powered over from the back of a solid scrum platform.
Johnny James, Hamish Nicholls, Will Scriven and Co really battled hard in the close exchanges and Tim Pounder belied his 39 years when he came on as fresh legs. The Wasps made a really concerted effort which featured Griffiths' rare drop goal but in reality was based on excellent late defence which sealed Llangwm's second success of the season as they leap-frogged over their opponents in the table.
