TWO anglers from Pembrokeshire need funds to compete in next year’s World Predator Classic, in Holland.
James Lemon, who runs a multi award business from Dale, Awesome Fishing, and Dutch friend, Guido Merlijn, could become the first team from Wales to enter this renowned tournament.
The pair are both accomplished lure anglers in both salt and fresh water, both are former WPC event marshals, and have become great friends through their collective angling interest. It’s their dream to compete at the competition.
The WPC is the most international lure angling event in Europe, for WPC2020 18+ countries, 65 boats, and takes place from Hellevoetsluis, Holland over five days in June each year. It is a catch and release lure tournament, attracting the best anglers in Europe, targeting Zander, Perch and Pike.
The prize fund exceeds £70,000 and there is a team place on the European Team heading to America for the Ryder cup style Angling Super cup - so there is a lot to fish for. This is where dreams could become reality.
The event will be covered through BT Sport.
There is zero funding for foreign sports tours, it’s up to the teams / individuals to raise the required finance themselves from multiple sources, including brand sponsorship and funding projects.
The pair have already paid the entry deposit (£500), booked accommodation with deposit (£200), and the boat hire deposit has been paid (£245), and the pair need to finalise their entry fee by the end of January 2020, the rest by end of May 2020.
The fees the pair need help with are entry fee (£1000), accommodation (£500), UK to Holland and return travel (£450), competition boat fuel and marina fees (£500), Team Wales Bespoke Clothing (£350), insurances and training (£200).
