Llangwm 2nds beat Pembroke 2nds by 7 wickets

Toby Asson tore through Pembroke 2nds at Pill Parks as Llangwm 2nds became the last team into the Alec Colley Cup semi finals.

Asson came on to bowl the 14th over with the visitors well placed on 68-2, and proceeded to take three wickets in six balls before four further scalps gave him figures of 7-22 in four overs.

That helped restrict Pembroke to 101 all out, and Andrew Harries then cracked 62 not out to secure a comfortable win for the hosts.

Pembroke skipper Chris Thomas opted to bat but it he who was bowled first over by Mike Williams for 6.

Aidan Fraser and Jamie Kaijaks then shared a stand of 59 though, Fraser hitting four fours in his 20 before being bowled by Phil Llewellyn.

And then Asson, who ironically was 12th man until Kevin Roberts withdrew late on, really turned the tide.

From his first ball he had George Davies (1) lbw, and then clean bowled Fraser (13) and Jack Smythe (0) to leave Pembroke 70-4.

And the visitors didn't recover despite a defiant 13 not out from Gareth Mitchell (one six), while a final over maximum from Jonathan Davies (6) did at least take the score over the three figure mark.

Alongside Asson's haul, Williams finished with 1-21, and Llewellyn 2-8.

The Llangwm reply reached 20-0 before Rob Smythe (1-23) bowled Llewellyn (9) to give Pembroke a glimmer - but then Harries upped the ante.

His knock included five fours and three sixes, effectively ending the game by taking 25 off Mitchell in the 12th over to take his side to 100-1.

Next over the job was done as No 3 Gary Phillips batted steadily to finish 21 not out, as Llangwm set up a semi final meeting with Neyland.

The other final four clash will see Carew play Cresselly.
