Harrison Allen Bowl quarter final: Carew (94-9) lose to Lawrenny (141-9) by 47 runs
Lawrenny are now just one win away from a second successive Harrison-Allen Bowl final after stifling the run chase of Carew last night.
Joe Kidney's men made 141-9 in their 22 overs, a seemingly gettable total, but restricted the home side to just 94-9 in their reply as Rob Williams and Brad McDermott-Jenkins shared eight wickets between them.
It was opener McDermott-Jenkins who also top scored in Lawrenny's innings with 32, but it was captain Kidney who added late impetus with 26 after coming in at No 7, and Ryan Morton kept things ticking with 27 not out.
Lawrenny were never allowed to get away though mainly thanks to Rhys Davies who took 5-26, while cousin Tom finished with 3-24 and Ian Wood 1-30.
But the Rooks never got going in their reply after Tim Hicks had made 29, with Williams (4-15) and McDermott-Jenkins (4-26) tearing through the top and middle order, with Jamie Lewis (1-28) taking the other wicket.
Shaun Whitfield made 11 and Nick Davies was 12 not out to ensure his side batted out the 22 overs, but in the end it was Lawrenny who comfortably booked their place in the last four.
The next two quarter finals between Whitland and Narberth, and Herbrandston and Haverfordwest, are scheduled for tomorrow night. Cresselly play Saundersfoot on Thursday.
