Merlins Bridge 1
St Clears 2
ST CLEARS scored twice in the first half to condemn Merlins Bridge to their third defeat on the trot.
The Saints playing with a gale-force wind in their favour for the first half opened the scoring in the 25th minute with an exquisite right-footed shot by Gareth Griffiths from 25 yards out that flew into the net.
The Wizards back four were under constant pressure and they cracked again as Sean Seymour-Davies added a second from close range in 35th minute at a corner.
The Wizards pulled a goal back in the 65th minute when skipper Stephen McNabney ran onto a through ball and struck the ball into the top corner.
Saints keeper Tom Howells pulled off a number of good saves to deny the hosts an equaliser as the visitors deservedly held on for the precious points.
