Gents:
LAST Saturday, the seventh round of the winter league was played with also a stableford competition for the non league players. Even the very heavy rain on the previous day did not stop the players from playing but with only walkers taking part.
Over 70 players took part in the winter league and the stableford competition all expecting lots of sunshine; it turned out dry windy with some sunshine with the greens once again in very good condition after all the rain the previous day. Some very good individual scores was returned with Andrew Jones scoring 43 points in the winter league; this is Andrew’s second win in the last four weeks with Steve George topping his score with 46 points to win the stableford competition by nine clear shots from Rob Devonald 37 points; good job the annual handicap review will be held shortly.

There are two more rounds of the winter league before the matchplay knock out stages commence on Saturday 22nd February for the top sixteen pairs after all rounds have been completed who have the best six combined scores in the nine rounds; in the event of a tie for sixteenth place; places to be decided with the best five combined scores total.

This Saturday, round eight of the winter league will be played with the final round played on Saturday 8, before the matchplay knock out stages which will commence on Saturday, February 22.
Seniors
LAST Thursday, senior section played a stableford competition where 34 players took part; on a cold; dry and windy day which had helped to dry the course.
The competition was won by Russell James with 38 points; two points clear of runner-up Tony Davey; Russell has been in fine form over the last few weeks having had his handicap reduced last week by one shot and another one shot this week; he will now play off a handicap of 14.

In the two’s competition the kitty was shared by Neyland golfers Mike Durward and John Laugharne.
The presentation was carried out by Martyn Price seniors’ captain.
Next seniors’ competition will be a stableford and will be played on today (Thursday) with the first draw at 10.30am.
The senior section held their first committee meeting of the year to discuss ideas from Owain Picton for the sharing and restructure committee’s duties. After a full discussion the following will be implemented this coming season.
Secretary: Gareth Rees general secretarial work.
Treasurer: David Christopher Fiancé.
Weekly Competitions: A roster to be set up consisting of Martyn Price (Seniors Captain), Brian Mitchell (Seniors Vice Captain), Gwyn French, Owain Picton, Brian Keen, Roy John and Dick Wooding (jnr) to organise the weekly competitions.
Club Matches: Captain Martyn Price, vice Captain Brian Mitchell and past captain Gwyn French will be responsible for the selection of the teams and organising the match meals with the restaurant.
Competition; Knock out Cups and Handicaps: Sub committee of Captain Martyn Price, Owain Picton, Roy John and Brian Keen.
Open Week: Sub committee consisting of Captain Martyn Price, Secretary Gareth Rees, Treasurer David Christopher, vice captain Brian Mitchell and Dick Wooding (jnr).
Knock out Cups: The seniors committee will implement for season 2014 the notice of motion passed at the seniors’ annual general meeting re knock-out cups; all matches are to be played by the closing date as stated on the cup draw sheets; with the only exception given to players under circumstances such as illness or injury when a maximum of one week apply; this extension can only be granted by the seniors’ committee. Matches not played by the closing dates all players concerned will be disqualified.
The committee also advices players to write their telephone numbers against their names on the draw sheets and play their matches as early as possible not leaving it to the last week.
All finals are to be played by the end of September of each season. Entry Sheets has been posted on the notice board for this year’s Knock out Cups.
South West Pembs Golf Alliance
THE February meeting of the South West Pembs Golf Alliance will be held at Milford Haven Golf Club on Thursday , February 27 this competition is open to full male members of Haverfordwest; South Pembs, St David’s City, Tenby Golf Clubs and the host club; for tee times please contact Matthew or Elliot on 01646697762 ext 2
Haverfordwest golf club will be hosting the March meeting on Thursday 27.
After a recent meeting the South West Pembs golf alliance; the alliance competitions will be played of Fridays in November; December 2014 and January; February and March 2015; hopefully this will encourage more players to play knowing that they have no work the following morning; more details to follow at a later time and this will also fall in line with some golfers who work a nine day fortnight and have every other Friday off.
Club Entertainment
ON Saturday, February 8 a Curry Night with live entertainment has been arranged with the music provided by Mike Chant. Tickets are £12 each available from Barry or at the bar.
