DOMINIC Day can count himself rather unlucky that he has never won a full cap with Wales, writes Gordon Thomas.

Warren Gatland has chosen to ignore the second row who began his rugby with Pembroke RFC.

The 28-year-old is in peak condition and form and recently captained Bath to a 25-13 victory over the Cardiff Blues in the LV Cup at The Rec.

He has won ten Wales under-19 caps and made 15 Wales Under-21 appearances and was destined to go on and become a full international.

But in February 2012, Day signed a three-year deal with Bath who is currently sitting third in the English Premiership, after playing 92 games with the Scarlets.

The 6ft 6 in and 18 stone figure, has featured 16 out of 17 games for Bath this season and was voted man of the match in the recent derby clash with Gloucester, his team are also top seeds in the Amlin Cup quarter final draw.

With Ospreys lock Ian Evans banned from the whole of the Six Nations tournament, again Gatland ignored Day, who is outstanding form and would be an asset to the current Wales squad.
