BOTH the winners of the singles competitions last year have been knocked out in the first round of this year’s competitions.

County champion Terry McBride was beaten 2-1 by Adrian Mathias (Manc) and the Carlsberg Cup winner Jason Hackett was beaten 2-0 by John Davies (Hook).
