Merlins Bridge 3
St Clears 3
STEPHEN McNabney scored a late equaliser to earn Merlins Bridge a draw at home against St Clears, writes Gordon Thomas.
With only minutes remaining and the Wizards were trailing, and up popped McNabney to fire home and secure a point for this side that lifted them up to third in the table.
The Saints played extremely well and thoroughly deserved to lead by a single Steve Thomas goal at half time. Shortly after the interval and Daniel Bryce equalised for the Wizards with a fine header. Thomas added his second goal of the game in the 65th minute and five minutes later saw Ian Derbyshire volley in a third for the visitors.
Bryce pulled one back for his side’s second, and then had what would have been a third goal was controversially disallowed by referee Paul Rooney. The striker looked to have beaten the off side trap with no complaints from the visitors. But McNabney finally struck late to earn his side a share of the spoils.
