Gents
LAST Saturday, the gents section returned to the winter league competition playing round five.
Considering the amount of rain fallen over the last few weeks the course was open but with no buggies allowed on the course; besides the winter league there was also a stableford competition for the non league players.
This was Gwyn Scale the club’s new captain’s first official duty; after an excellent rendering of “Why was he born so beautiful” by the Milford Haven Golf Club male voice choir and Gwyn got on with his duties to the usual banter by members.
Gwyn congratulated the retiring Centenary Club Captain John Price in his excellent year for all his work and dedication which he put into his year of office.
Gwyn went on to announce that David Humphreys is to be the new chairman of competitions and handicap for the coming year and that Paul Eva have agreed to assist him; he also congratulated Matthew Hearne on his hole-in-one.
Gwyn then went on to announce the scores and present the prizes.

In the Stableford competition for non winter league players only eight players played and the winners are as follows.

In the twos competition three players shared the kitty; each two was worth £2.66p in pro-s hop credit; winners were: Rob Devonald, Jake Lewis and Don Wells.
Round six of the winter league will be played this Saturday. January Monthly Medal will be played on Saturday 18 and round seven of the winter league on Saturday 25.
New Year’s Eve
FIFTY members and their guests enjoyed an excellent New Year’s Eve buffet dance; with the excellent food prepared by Barry, Emma and their staff with the music provided by Paul Kelly Disco.
John Price carried out his last duties as Centenary Club Captain when he drove off the first tee just after midnight followed by the new incoming captain for 2014 Gwyn Scale. John then handed over the captaincy to Gwyn and gave him best wishes for his year in office.
Hole-in-one
CONGRATULATIONS to Matthew Hearn the club’s professional who hit the first hole-in-one for 2014 on the tenth hole “The Boundary” in the winter league competition played on Saturday; this was his eighth hole-in-one.
Seniors
THE seniors' stableford competition held last Thursday was contested by 15 players who ventured out after all the rain on New Year’s Day. The course was wet but playable for walkers only.
The wetness of the course did not affect the golf with some incredible scores being returned; especially by 21 handicapper Tony Davey, who scored 44 points to win by three clear shots from the seniors’ new vice captain Brian Mitchell.
This competition was the first for the new captain Martyn Price to officiate even though he had plenty of practice in 2013. Martyn carried out the presentation to the following.

The only two was by Rolly Council who went home with the entire kitty.
Next senior’s competition will be a stableford and will be played on today (Thursday) with the first draw at 10.30 am; with further competitions for January on Thursday 16; 23 and 30 all with the first draw at 10.30am.
Juniors
CONGRATULATIONS to Harley Holmes who won the junior section stableford competition held on Saturday.
South West Pembs Golf Alliance
LAST Thursday, St David’s City Golf Club hosted the South West Pembrokeshire Golf Alliance when 50 players took part of which12 golfers had travelled down from the Milford.
Congratulation to John Price 34 points who finished third in the 0-14 section with Gareth Phillips(nuts) 30 points placing fifth place in the same section. Gareth Fairburn shared the twos kitty as there were only two scored.
The January meeting of the South West Pembs Golf Alliance will be held at South Pembs Golf Club on Thursday, January 30, this competition is open to full male members of Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, St David’s City, Tenby Golf Clubs and the host club.
