As harness racing series Rasus celebrates its 18th anniversary, the presentation team has welcomed a new recruit, presenter and sports reporter, Dot Davies.
The Rasus 2010 season started last month with live coverage of the Ceredigion races from Tanycastell fields, Rhydyfelin. The Ceredigion races were an appropriate starting point for Dot as she was brought up in Ceredigion and fell in love with horses in the west of Wales.
“I couldn’t wait to start,” said Dot, aged 34, a farmer’s daughter from Penyparc near Aberporth.
“As I was brought up on a farm, horses have been a part of my life. The one event that made me really dote on horses was seeing Hywel Davies win the Grand National in 1985. Hywel comes from the same area as me and it is a privilege to work with him on Rasus.”
Dot joins a presentation team which includes Ifan Jones Evans and Dai Jones as well as Hywel. The team will cover ten meetings in all, including Tir Prince, Penybont and Tregaron, as they follow the Crock of Gold and the Welsh Cup championships.
