J. J. Morris reports: A fair entry for the first sheep sale of the year. Trade was very brisk in all sections, with plenty of demand from a good number of buyers.
Yearlings overall average £130. Top prices: Suffolk-cross mules, £141, Miles, Gwili Vale; Black Face Suffolk-cross, £139,£138, Davies, South Hill; Texel-cross mules, £135, Pepper, Swan Inn.
Ewes (109) overall average £75. Top prices: two-year-old, £120, £100, Prichard, Calcut; three-year-old, £90 Jones & Sons, Tyllwyd Mawr; brokers, £60, Phillips, Upper Portclew.
Rams: A small entry of yearling Texel rams from Thomas & Son, Carswell Farm, St Florence sold for 290gns and 280gns.
