Wintery conditions sweeping the country were not going to prevent Lucy Sheldrake, of Delaroche Stud, Simpson Cross making a trip to London. On January 9th Lucy attended the annual breeders’ dinner and awards ceremony at the Grange City Hotel, London to receive an award. One of her broodmares, Bernwode Evelina, was the British Equestrian Federation’s Leading Sports Pony Dam 2009. This award recognises the mare for her outstanding offspring. She has already produced two graded sports pony stallions, one being Hartpury College’s pony stallion Benedict.
In 2008 her daughter Delaroche Breve was the highest placed sports pony yearling in the entire BEF Futurity scheme. Then continuing the trend in 2009 her yearling son Delaroche Laureve received an Elite First Premium.
Lucy was delighted to receive the award.
She said: “There’s a brilliant team of people who have contributed greatly to allow this achievement, including my very tolerant and supportive family.”
