Locally-owned Loughkeen Dancing Lord triumphed at the recent Horse of the Year Show. The seven year-old – known at home as Ben – owned by Bernie White and Dave Harries, of Hayes Farm, Milton, now holds the title of heavyweight hunter of the year. Bernie said: “He’s been fabulous. We’re delighted, he’s done really well this year.” Produced and ridden by showing legend Robert Oliver, pictured with Ben after their big win, the pure-bred Irish Draft has had a very successful year, winning classes at events such as the Royal Welsh, Monmouth and the National Hunter Show. He has been owned by Bernie and Dave for just over a year. The couple, who are well-known on the local show circuit with their horses and their commercial beef cattle and Belgian Blues, say Ben has a calm temperament and real show ring presence.
