A TOP trophy for 'Best Welsh Cheese' has gone to First Milk's Haverfordwest Creamery for the fourth year in a row.
Dairy farmers supplying First Milk’s Haverfordwest Creamery were credited after the win at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich.
The title went to the creamery’s Extra Mature cheddar, with a Gold rosette also going to its Vintage variety.
Jack Eade, production manager for Haverfordwest Creamery, said: “We’re thrilled to have our cheddars recognised in this way. Best Welsh Cheese for the fourth consecutive year really highlights the consistent quality of milk that goes into our cheddar, supplied by our Welsh farmer owners.
“It’s also a testament to our employees; whose commitment to creating our great tasting foods has sealed these award-wins.”
The International Cheese Awards in Nantwich is regarded as 'the biggest and best cheese awards in the world', and this year there were a record 4,500 entries from 26 countries.Two hundred industry experts from around the world evaluate entries on taste, texture, aroma and body.
The Haverfordwest Creamery is owned and operated by farmer owned cooperative First Milk.
First Milk has invested £20 million in changes at the site over the last five years enabling it to expand capacity, reduce costs and improve efficiencies, establishing its position as 'one of the best facilities in the UK dairy industry'.
