ST DAVIDS students have raised more than £350 for children’s charities by taking part in a national reading event.
Ysgol Dewi Sant ran a Readathon in the autumn term, with each pupil gaining sponsorship to read a number of books or magazines.
Readathon was founded in 1984, and it is not just about reading for pleasure, it provides free books for participating schools, and also
raises money for charities.
Among the beneficiaries are CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading cancer charity for children and young people, the Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, which specialises in helping children with serious neurological or blood disorders, and Read well, a charity that provides readers and storytellers to make life better for seriously ill children in hospital.
