A COUPLE who recently re-located to Pembrokeshire has opened a new contemporary art gallery in St Davids.
Set in an 1816 chapel, the building on Goat Street overlooks St David’s Cathedral, and recently underwent a 10 year refurbishment plan.
The gallery is owned and run by Amanda and Daniel Wright, who have been passionately involved in the art and education sector for more than 30 years.
They decided to set up home in Pembrokeshire after falling in love with the county’s stunning coastal and rural scenery while visiting friends.
Goat Street Gallery displays a number of unique hand crafted products made by local and international artists and craftspeople, including Grahame Hurd-Wood, Tim Casey, Deb John, Ray Sheldon and Steve Handley.
Some of the pieces on display include handmade tableware, fine art paintings, hand stitched embroidery, hand blown glass, ceramics and ceramic sculptures.
The gallery also features the work of Daniel and Amanda themselves and is home to their workshop, which gives visitors the opportunity to observe and discover how each unique product is created.
Daniel has recently produced a china tableware set for the Pembrokeshire Retreats Group, which features a 20 piece dinner service collection in Roch Castle and Penrhiw, and will be in the Twr y Felin Hotel when it is completed in 2014.
Meanwhile Amanda was commissioned to produce three large embroidered textiles hangings for Roch Castle.
